SAAFE is a mobile-based interactive serious game developed by Benten Technologies and built in Unity. It stands for Sexually Active Adolescent Focused Education. It is made for diverse African American youth and is using a user-centered design approach. The game aimed at providing evidence-based sexual health education that is culturally relevant, fun and experiential through a dating simulation game. The script was written in collaboration with field professionals. I was responsible for the narrative design, incorporating real-world STIs into the Dating Sim gameplay and narrative. I wrote the story scripts to blend educational information with character development and directed cutscenes. In addition to the dialogue, I also wrote flavor texts such as the current objective text on the player menu screen. The game includes 7 standalone chapters that focus on different characters and scenarios. These chapters include answer choices that affect the ending the player earns at the end of each chapter.
